We had a pleasant two-night stay in the Shangri-La Hotel in Guilin. I had great views of both the city and the limestone peaks from my room, but the real surprise was on the hotel grounds, where there were not only gardens but also a mini-zoo and a wedding pavilion in the middle of a koi pond. In case you’re wondering, the zebras and elephant are faux.
