Completed in 1420, the Temple of Heaven complex is larger than the Forbidden City. During the winter solstice, the Temple of Heaven was the place of ritual where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties honored their ancestors and prayed for a good harvest in the coming season. Its most recognizable structure is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests. The temple complex is now a popular public park.
