The Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum was definitely one of the highlights of my tour. Construction of the mausoleum began in 246 BC under the order of the Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi, and over 700,000 workers and craftmen are believed to have worked on this project. The site, first discovered in 1974 by local farmers, covers over six acres and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We had enough time to walk around Pit #1 and get up-close looks and photos (one had to be fast with the ever-moving crowds) of some of the warrior and horse statues on display in the museum.
