The Han Yang Ling Underground Mausoleum and Museum, located north of Xi’an, is the burial place of Emperor Liu Qi of the Han Dynasty and Empress Wang and was built during the 2nd century BC. It covers almost 5,000 acres. We were able to walk over the excavation site on glass floors. The pits contain pottery warrior and animal figurines, everyday articles and weapons. Over the course of time, the clothing and wooden arms of the warriors decayed, leaving only naked armless bodies.
